Getting from Floyd County to St. John

  1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Floyd County fly into St. Thomas, using the airport code STT, since that is the usual gateway to the Virgin Islands. Plan your connections with care and build in a bit of slack, because island weather and travel days can shift. Once you land, a taxi will take you to Red Hook for the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John.
  2. Pick your departure window. Iowa winters are long and cold, so many families choose a trip during the cooler months when the island feels especially welcoming. Think about your milestone date, your group's schedules, and whether you want a quieter stretch of the year. Tell the St John Condos team your target dates early so they can help you line up villa availability with your plans.
  3. Plan the stay itself. A celebration works best when the details are settled before you go. Decide who is coming, how many bedrooms you need, and whether you want a rental car, since driving on St. John is on the left side of the road. Book your villa by the week, share your plans for a special dinner or a quiet toast, and leave room for unhurried days.
