Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Allamakee County, Iowa

St John Condos helps travelers from Allamakee County, Iowa, plan a week away with friends at villas on St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Our local team answers questions before you book, so the trip feels settled before you leave home.

Allamakee County sits in the northeast corner of Iowa, where the land rolls toward the Mississippi River and winters are cold and snowy. For a group of friends who spend most of the year bundled up, a week on St. John offers a clear change of scenery. The island is warm, green, and quiet in the ways that matter when you want to relax together. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Driving on the island is on the left, which is worth remembering before you pick up a rental car. Staying in a villa at the Westin St John Resort lets your group share space, cook a few meals, and still have an easy place to unwind together.

Planning Your Week Away From Allamakee County

  1. Getting From Iowa. Plan your route through St. Thomas, the airport code STT, since that is where most travelers from the Midwest land. Coordinate arrival times across your group so that everyone connects to the same taxi ride to Red Hook. Sharing one ride keeps the start of the trip simple and gives your friends time to settle in together on the ferry to Cruz Bay.
  2. Choosing When to Leave. Think about leaving the cold of an Iowa winter behind when you pick your dates. Many groups from northern states choose the coldest months at home for their trip, because the contrast feels best then. Talk through schedules, work commitments, and school calendars early, so everyone can commit before villa dates are locked in.
  3. Planning the Stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a group that wants a full seven days together. Decide who is responsible for groceries, rental cars, and shared meals before you arrive. Our team can answer questions about the villa and the resort before you book, so your group can focus on enjoying the island.
