Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Slater, Iowa

St John Condos helps first-time Caribbean travelers from Slater, Iowa, plan a villa stay on St. John at the Westin St John Resort, from the flight into St. Thomas to the week ahead on the island.

Slater sits in the middle of Iowa, where winters are cold and the landscape is flat farmland and open sky. For many people in the area, a trip to the Caribbean is the first time they have stepped onto a warm, tropical island. That can feel like a big change, and it is normal to have questions about packing, currency, getting around, and what a villa week actually looks like. St John Condos is a local team that rents villas at the Westin St John Resort, and we are glad to answer those questions before you book. A commercial autonomous floor scrubber may be the last thing on your mind when you plan a getaway, yet many travelers from the Midwest are used to such tools in busy facilities back home. Here we focus on the simple, practical pieces of your first island trip.

Your first island trip from Slater

  1. Reaching St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT. From there, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little extra room in your schedule for the transfers, and keep your travel documents handy. On the island, remember that driving is on the left, so take your time at first.
  2. Choosing when to leave Iowa. Winters in Iowa are cold, so many travelers from Slater find that a warm-weather escape feels especially welcome during the coldest months. Think about your own calendar, school breaks, and work commitments, and consider the general climate of the islands, which stays warm year round. Talk with our team about what season suits you, and we can help you weigh the options.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas at the resort are rented by the week, which gives you time to settle in rather than rushing between stops. Decide early whether you want a slow week by the water or a few outings across the island. Share your plans with us, and we will help you match the villa to your group, so the rhythm of your first Caribbean trip feels comfortable from the start.
