Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Cambridge, Iowa
St John Condos helps families from Cambridge, Iowa, plan a relaxed island vacation at the Westin St John Resort, with villas rented by the week and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
Families from Cambridge, Iowa, often arrive at St. John after a long stretch of flat farmland and wide skies, so the change of scenery can feel welcome. A villa at the Westin St John Resort gives a family room to spread out, cook a few meals, and let children run around without rushing from one plan to the next. Planning ahead makes that ease possible, and it helps to know what the week will look like before you pack. Winters in Iowa are cold, and that is a common reason families decide the Caribbean is worth the trip. St. John keeps a warm climate through much of the year, which means swimsuits and sunscreen rather than heavy coats. Because the island is reached by air to St. Thomas, a taxi, and a ferry, a little planning goes a long way, and our team is glad to walk through the details with you.

Planning a family trip from Cambridge to St. John
- Getting from Cambridge. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, the STT airport, then take a taxi to Red Hook and board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Ask about the ferry schedule for the day you plan to arrive, and keep bags light so the transfer stays simple with tired children. Driving on St. John is on the left, so consider this when renting a vehicle.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Families from Cambridge often prefer to travel during school breaks, though the island stays warm year round. Think about how your children handle early mornings, and whether a weekday departure from a smaller airport suits your household better. Pick dates that fit your calendar, then share them with our team so we can check villa availability before you commit.
- Planning the stay. Villas rent by the week, which gives a family a steady rhythm of beach mornings, quiet afternoons, and simple dinners at home. Bring a short list of activities your children care about, such as swimming, reading, or exploring tide pools, and leave some open time. A commercial autonomous floor scrubber may not be the first thing on your mind, yet many resorts keep spaces spotless with that kind of equipment, so the villa you return to each evening stays fresh.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to rent a car on St. John as a family from Cambridge?
Many families find a car useful for reaching beaches and shops around the island, though taxis are also available. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road. Our team can talk through your transport options before you book, so you can decide what fits your group best.
Is a villa a good choice for a family compared with a hotel room?
A villa offers separate space, a kitchen for simple meals, and room for children to settle in at night. Because villas are rented by the week, you can settle into a routine rather than packing up every few days. Reach out to St John Condos with your family size and we will help you compare.
