Planning your island week from Maxwell

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Maxwell fly to St. Thomas, which is the airport code STT. From there, a taxi will take you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan your connections with some slack, since island travel rewards a relaxed pace. The local team at St John Condos can explain the usual steps before you commit to a booking.
  2. Choosing when to leave Iowa. Iowa winters are cold, so many travelers from Maxwell choose to leave during the coldest months of the year. The Caribbean stays warm through the seasons, which makes almost any month a comfortable choice. Think about your own calendar, school schedules, and work commitments. Once you have a window in mind, ask St John Condos which villa dates are open.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a full island exploration. Consider what you want to see, from quiet beaches to hiking trails, and leave a few open days for unplanned discoveries. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so take a moment to get comfortable before heading out. Pack light layers, sun protection, and comfortable shoes.
