Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Mitchellville, Iowa
St John Condos helps friends from Mitchellville, Iowa, plan a shared week at a villa on St. John, where a group can settle in together and make the most of the island at a relaxed pace.
Mitchellville sits in the heart of Iowa, where the Midwest keeps its own rhythm and winters can run long and cold. When a group of friends from there starts talking about a week somewhere warm, the idea usually grows quickly. St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers that kind of break, with a Caribbean climate that feels very far from a Mitchellville February. A week away with friends works best when everyone has room to breathe. A villa rented by the week gives your group a shared kitchen, space to gather in the evening, and the freedom to split the days however you like. Some of the crew can head out early while others take it slow, and the villa becomes home base for all of it. St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, so you can talk through what your group needs.

Planning a week away from Mitchellville
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for the group to travel together where you can, and keep bags simple so the ferry crossing stays easy. Driving on St. John is on the left, so anyone who rents a car should be ready for that.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Think about when your friends can all get away from work and family. Travelers from a northern state often look for a stretch of the year when the islands feel especially inviting and the weather at home is at its coldest. Talk through dates early, since a group of several people needs more lead time to line up schedules.
- Planning the stay. Decide early what kind of week you want, whether that means lazy mornings, shared meals, or a mix of quiet days and outings. Assign a few shared tasks like groceries and rides so no one carries the load alone. Bring the names of everyone staying in the villa to your St John Condos conversation so the booking fits your group well.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good fit for a group of friends from Mitchellville?
Often it is. A villa gives your group shared space, a kitchen for easy breakfasts, and room to spread out. Everyone can keep their own schedule while still gathering together in the evenings, which many friend groups find more comfortable than a set of separate hotel rooms.
Do we need to rent a car on St. John?
It depends on how your group plans to spend the week. Some friends prefer to stay near the resort and walk or use local transportation, while others want the freedom to explore. If you rent, remember that driving on St. John is on the left, and talk it over with the St John Condos team before you decide.
