Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in West Union, Iowa
St John Condos can help travelers from West Union, Iowa, plan a winter escape to the Caribbean, with villas at the Westin St John Resort rented by the week and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
West Union sits in the Midwest, where winters bring cold air, gray skies, and long stretches indoors. For many travelers from this part of Iowa, the idea of a winter escape is less about luxury and more about warm water, bright light, and a change of scenery. St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers that kind of reset, and the Westin St John Resort is a place where you can settle into a villa for a full week rather than rushing from one stop to the next. Planning a trip like this from the Midwest often means thinking carefully about logistics, and that is where a little local guidance helps. St John Condos is a local team that rents villas at the Westin St John, and we are happy to talk through what a winter stay could look like before you commit. Whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, or with family, we want the planning to feel clear and unhurried, so you can focus on the reason you went in the first place.

Planning a winter escape from West Union
- Getting to the island. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT. From there, a taxi will take you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep in mind that driving on the island is on the left side of the road, so many guests prefer to arrange their own transportation with that in mind.
- Choosing when to leave. Iowa winters are at their harshest in the deepest part of the season, so many travelers from West Union aim to leave when the cold feels most stubborn. Think about your own schedule, school calendars, and work commitments, and consider how much time you want away. A week in a villa is a common choice, and it gives you room to unwind without feeling rushed.
- Planning your stay. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which suits travelers who want a settled base rather than a string of short nights. Before booking, consider how many people are coming, what kind of view and layout you prefer, and whether you want to plan activities or simply rest. Our team can walk through these choices with you so the stay fits your winter break well.
