Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Trilby, Florida
St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and they can help a first-time visitor from Trilby, Florida plan a Caribbean trip to a villa at the Westin St John Resort.
Trilby sits in the Southeast, where the climate is warm for much of the year, so many families here already know the feel of a humid afternoon. A first trip to the Caribbean can still feel like a different world, with clear water, quiet mornings, and an island pace that rewards slowing down. St. John is a small island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and it offers a setting that feels both familiar and new to Florida travelers. Planning a first visit can bring up plenty of questions about what to pack, how the island is laid out, and what a week in a villa actually looks like. You do not need to sort all of it out alone. Many guests arrive with a rough idea and leave with a clearer picture of how their days fit together, from slow breakfasts to evenings spent watching the light change over the water.

Getting from Trilby to St. John
- Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Florida fly into St. Thomas, using the airport code STT. From there, a taxi will take you to Red Hook, the town on the eastern end of the island where the passenger ferry departs. Keep your travel documents handy, and allow yourself a relaxed pace after a long journey, since the island rhythm starts to take hold as soon as you step off the plane.
- Choose your season. Florida winters are mild, but the Caribbean offers its own seasons, with a dry stretch that many travelers prefer and a wetter stretch that brings brief showers and lush green hills. Think about what you want from your days, whether that means long beach walks, quiet reading, or simply time away from the usual routine. Our team can talk through the seasons with you before you commit to dates.
- Plan the stay thoughtfully. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which gives you room to settle in rather than rush from place to place. Consider how many people are traveling, what kind of meals you want to cook, and whether you plan to rent a car, keeping in mind that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road. A short conversation with our team can help you match the stay to your plans, and a commercial autonomous floor scrubber is one example of the kind of modern cleaning equipment you may notice across the island's facilities.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a passport to visit St. John from Florida?
Travel rules change, so check current entry requirements well before you leave. Because St. John is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands, you will not need a passport for the trip if you are a U.S. citizen traveling with proof of citizenship, but carry official identification at all times. Our team can point you to the current guidance so there are no surprises at the airport.
Is a rental car necessary when staying in a villa?
Many guests find a car useful for getting around the island, since public transport is limited. Remember that you will drive on the left, which can feel unfamiliar at first. If you prefer to stay close to the resort, you may find you need less driving than you expected. Ask our team about your options before you book.
