Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Sunrise, Florida
St John Condos helps families from Sunrise, Florida plan a relaxed island stay, with villas at the Westin St John Resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
Sunrise sits in the southern part of Florida, where the warm weather and sunshine feel familiar to most families. A trip to St. John offers a change of pace that still feels easy to manage, especially when everyone is traveling together. The island is small, green and quiet compared with busy resort towns, which suits parents who want room to breathe and children who want to explore. Planning a family trip from Sunrise is mostly about deciding how much you want to do each day and how much you want to simply rest. A villa rented by the week gives you space for different schedules, a place to cook simple meals, and a home base to return to. St John Condos can talk through these choices with you, so the trip fits your household rather than the other way around.

Planning a family trip from Sunrise
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Sunrise fly to St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep car seats and strollers in mind, since the ferry and taxi options work best with packed, manageable luggage that everyone can carry.
- Choosing when to travel. Florida families often find that the islands feel most comfortable during the drier stretches of the year, when skies tend to stay clear. School calendars matter too, so compare your children's breaks with the weather you prefer. Think about whether you want a lively stretch or a calmer one, and let that guide your dates.
- Planning the stay. Renting a villa by the week lets your family settle in, keep regular meal times, and enjoy a slower rhythm. Remember that driving on St. John happens on the left side of the road, so plan transportation carefully and consider how much you will rely on taxis. Reach out to the St John Condos team with questions about layout, bedrooms and daily logistics.
Frequently asked questions
Is St. John a good place for a family vacation from Sunrise?
Many families find St. John relaxing because it is small, scenic and unhurried. Children can enjoy open outdoor space, and parents can enjoy a villa with room to spread out. The island rewards those who want a calm, close-knit trip rather than a crowded resort experience.
Should we bring a rental car to St. John?
Driving on St. John is on the left, which can take some getting used to, especially with children in the car. Many visitors choose taxis for certain outings and keep a car only if they plan to explore often. The St John Condos team can help you weigh those options before you book.
