Planning your trip from Sharpes

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Florida fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT. From there a taxi takes you to Red Hook, and a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack in your schedule for the ferry, and keep in mind that driving on the island happens on the left side of the road.
  2. Choosing when to go. Florida travelers often have more flexibility than they expect, since the Caribbean season and the Sharpes school calendar do not always line up. Think about whether you want the warmest, busiest stretch of the year or a quieter window with gentler crowds. Let us know your dates and we can help you weigh the tradeoffs honestly.
  3. Planning the stay itself. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a splurge well, since you can settle in and stop packing and unpacking. Think about how many people are coming, what kind of days you want, and whether you plan to spend most of your time on the grounds or out exploring. Write those answers down, then send them to our team so we can match you to a villa that fits.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa stay really worth it for a trip from Sharpes?

For a splurge, a villa often gives more room and privacy than a standard hotel room, which matters when you are traveling with family or friends. It also lets you cook, relax, and set your own pace. Whether it is worth it depends on what you want from the trip, and our team can talk that through with you.

Do I need a rental car on St. John?

Many visitors choose to arrange transportation on the island, since roads are winding and driving happens on the left. Think about how often you plan to leave the resort and whether you are comfortable with that style of driving. Ask our team what options suit your group before you decide.
