Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Rocheport, Missouri

St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort for travelers from Rocheport, Missouri who want a trip built around the beach. Our local team can answer your questions before you book, so you can plan with confidence.

Rocheport sits in the heart of Missouri, a long way from salt water, so a beach trip from here is a real change of scenery. Many families and couples from the Midwest look forward to a week where the main plan is simply to spend time in the sun by the water. St John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, and its calm bays and warm sand suit travelers who want their days built around the shoreline. Staying in a villa at the Westin St John Resort gives you room to spread out, with space to cook, rest, and gather after a day on the sand. Rentals run by the week, which lets you settle in and stop watching the clock. We think the best beach trips come from a clear plan and a little breathing room, and that is exactly what we aim to help you put together.

Planning your beach trip from Rocheport

  1. Reaching St. Thomas. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi will take you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan your connections with a little extra room, since travel from a landlocked state can involve more than one leg. Bring what you need for the ferry in your carry-on bag.
  2. Choosing your departure window. Missouri winters are cold, so many travelers from Rocheport pick a winter or early spring trip to trade snow for warm sand. Summer is another popular choice if school schedules allow it. Think about what feels right for your family, and remember that the beach is at its most inviting when the weather back home is at its least inviting. Let us know your dates and we can talk through the options.
  3. Planning your stay. Once you have a villa booked, think about how you want your days to look. Some travelers plan a slow morning on the beach followed by an afternoon nap in the shade. Others like to explore a little, so keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, which takes some getting used to. A relaxed plan, with a few flexible open days, tends to make the trip feel like a true getaway.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a rental car on St. John if I want to focus on the beach?

It depends on your plans. If you mostly want to walk from your villa to the water and stay close by, you may not need a car every day. If you want to visit different beaches around the island, a car gives you more freedom. Just remember that you will drive on the left, so take a moment to get comfortable before heading out.

How should I prepare for a beach trip if I am coming from Missouri?

Pack light clothing, sun protection, and a good pair of sandals or water shoes. Bring a reusable bag for beach gear and any items you want to keep dry. Talking with our local team before you book can help you think through what your particular trip will need, from packing lists to the timing of your flights.
