Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Parkersburg, Iowa

St John Condos helps friends from Parkersburg, Iowa, plan a shared week at a villa at the Westin St John Resort, with a local team ready to answer questions before you book.

A week away with friends is a different kind of trip from a family holiday or a quiet getaway for two. Everyone has an opinion about where to eat and what to do, and the best version of the week usually comes from giving each person a little room while keeping the group together. For travelers from Parkersburg, Iowa, a villa at the Westin St John Resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands can be a comfortable base for that kind of shared time. Iowa winters are cold, so many people in Parkersburg look forward to a stretch of warm Caribbean sunshine with the people they enjoy most. A villa rented by the week gives your group its own space to gather in the morning, cook together when you feel like it, and spread out when you want some quiet. Because the setting is calm and easygoing, the planning itself can be relaxed too, as long as the practical details are sorted out early.

Planning a week away with friends from Parkersburg

  1. Getting to the island. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you catch the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay. If your group is arriving from different cities, agree on a meeting point at the airport so nobody ends up waiting alone. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, so think about who will be behind the wheel.
  2. Choosing when to leave Iowa. Winters in Iowa are cold, which is a big part of why a warm island week appeals to so many groups. Talk with your friends about which dates suit everyone's work, school, and family commitments before anyone books. Sharing one set of dates early keeps the group together and makes it easier for the rental team to help you find a villa that fits everyone.
  3. Planning the stay together. Set up a shared plan for meals, outings, and downtime before you go, and give each person a say in one or two activities. Decide early who handles groceries, who keeps track of shared costs, and how you will split the rental. A short planning chat with the St John Condos team before you book can clear up questions about the villa and what the week will look like.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa a good choice for a group of friends from Parkersburg?

Many groups find that a villa suits them well because everyone has space to unwind and the kitchen makes shared meals easy. It also gives your group a home base for the week, so you are not moving between hotel rooms. St John Condos can talk through the layout and whether it fits the size of your group.

Do we need to plan every day in advance?

You do not need a packed schedule. Many friends prefer to agree on a few plans and leave the rest open. A good approach is to choose one or two shared activities, then let people go their own way for part of the day. Talking this through before you leave Iowa helps everyone arrive with similar expectations.
