Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Oak Grove, Illinois

St John Condos helps families from Oak Grove, Illinois, plan a relaxed island vacation at a villa on St. John, with local answers before you book.

Planning a family trip from Oak Grove, Illinois, means balancing everyone's wants, from quiet mornings to adventurous afternoons. St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, US Virgin Islands, so your group can spread out rather than squeeze into a standard hotel room. A villa gives children their own space to rest and gives adults a place to unwind after a full day. Illinois winters are cold and gray, which is one reason many families look toward the Caribbean in the colder months. St. John keeps a warm climate through most of the year, so swimwear and light layers usually cover the days. This page walks through the practical steps, including how most visitors reach the island and how to plan a stay that works for children and grandparents alike, with a commercial autonomous floor scrubber nowhere in sight.

Getting your Oak Grove family to St. John

1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Illinois fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries your group to Red Hook, the village where the passenger ferry departs for Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for car seats, extra bags, and sleepy children, and ask us ahead of time about any gear you want waiting at the villa.
2. Pick your season carefully. Families from northern states often prefer to leave Illinois during the coldest stretch of winter, when the island feels like a clear escape. Consider school calendars, holiday crowds, and your children's sleep schedules. Mid-year travel can suit families who want a quieter stay. Talk with our team about which weeks fit your household.
3. Plan the villa stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits families who want a settled routine rather than constant packing. Think about bedrooms for each child, a kitchen for simple breakfasts, and a pool area for afternoons. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so rent a vehicle only if your group is comfortable with that. Share your family's needs with us before you book.
