Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Naples, Florida

St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, so families planning a trip from Naples, Florida can talk through the villa, the travel days and the three-generation logistics first.

Naples sits on Florida's Gulf coast, so many families from there already know warm weather well. Planning a shared trip to St. John is different, though, because the Caribbean island is reached by a small connection and ferry rather than a single straight flight. When grandparents, parents and children travel together, that route deserves early attention, since everyone's comfort, pace and energy need to line up before anyone packs a bag. A villa rented by the week can suit a multigenerational group well, giving each branch of the family room to rest, cook, and gather on their own terms. The island's slower rhythm, with its left-side driving and quiet roads, rewards people who like unhurried mornings. Thinking about who needs step-free access, shade, and a flexible schedule is a good place to begin before any dates are chosen.

Planning a shared trip from Naples

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Naples fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for older relatives to have help with luggage and transfers, and consider whether one long travel day or a split arrival makes the most sense for your group.
  2. Choosing when to leave. Naples travelers can often leave Florida at a time that suits school calendars and the older generation's preferences. Warm Caribbean weather is steady through much of the year, so the main question is usually crowd levels and budget. Talk with the whole family early, then settle on a window that lets everyone travel comfortably without rushing the connections.
  3. Planning the stay. A week in a villa gives three generations enough room to spread out while still sharing meals and time on the water. Ask the St John Condos team about bedroom layouts, accessibility and the distance between units on the resort grounds. Agree on a rough daily rhythm, so the family can mix shared outings with quiet afternoons for those who need them.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa better than a hotel for a family trip from Naples with grandparents?

For many three-generation groups, a villa offers separate bedrooms, a kitchen for simple meals, and a common living space. That mix lets grandparents rest on their own schedule while the younger family members stay close. Ask the St John Condos team which layout suits your group.

How do we handle the travel days with older relatives?

Arranging help with bags, planning breaks, and choosing a route with the fewest transfers all make the trip easier. The taxi and ferry legs from St. Thomas to St. John are straightforward, but they are worth preparing for in advance. The local team can explain what to expect before you book.
