Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Mount Auburn, Illinois

St John Condos helps Mount Auburn families plan a trip to St. John for three generations together, with villas at the Westin St John Resort that give grandparents, parents, and children room to share a stay on the island.

A family trip that brings grandparents, parents, and children together takes more thought than a couple's getaway, and that is where a local team can help. From Mount Auburn, the journey to the islands is a long one, so it helps to decide early who is coming, what each person needs, and how much time everyone can spare. A shared villa at the Westin St John Resort lets each generation keep its own rhythm while still gathering for meals and quiet evenings together. Illinois winters are cold and gray, which is one reason many families from the Midwest look forward to a warm Caribbean stay. St. John's climate stays warm through most of the year, so the day-to-day planning is mostly about comfort, shade, and pacing for older travelers and young children alike. St John Condos answers those practical questions before you book, so the trip feels settled rather than improvised.

Getting from Mount Auburn to St. John

  1. Reaching the islands. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which is the usual gateway for St. John. From the airport you take a taxi to Red Hook, then board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. For a group spanning three generations, it helps to plan seats together, allow for bags and mobility needs, and confirm the ferry plan with your St John Condos contact before the trip.
  2. Choosing when to leave. Think about what matters most to your family: quieter weeks for the grandparents, school calendars for the children, or the cooler months of the Midwest winter when a warm stay feels especially welcome. Talk through the options as a group, then ask the local team which weeks suit a multigenerational stay before you commit to dates.
  3. Planning the shared stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits families who want space to spread out and a common table to gather around. Consider bedroom layout, ground-floor access for anyone who walks slowly, and a rental car if you plan to explore, remembering that driving on St. John is on the left. Share the plan with everyone in advance so each generation knows what to expect.
