A milestone is worth marking somewhere that feels like a true change of pace. For many people in Lerna, that means leaving the flat, familiar landscape of central Illinois behind for a warm Caribbean island. St. John offers quiet beaches, clear water and a slower rhythm that suits a celebration with the people you love most. Because the trip is a milestone, the details matter more than usual. A villa rented by the week gives your group room to gather, cook together and linger over sunsets without rushing from one plan to the next. Getting from Lerna to St. John

  1. Reaching the islands. Most visitors from Lerna fly to St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little breathing room between your arrival and any reservation, since island travel rewards a relaxed pace and a bit of flexibility after a long day.
  2. Timing your departure. Leaving Illinois in the cooler months means stepping off the plane into a sharp contrast with winter at home, which many families find especially memorable for an anniversary or milestone birthday. Summer brings a different feel, with warm days and a quieter season. Think about which atmosphere suits your celebration, and let that guide the dates you choose.
  3. Planning your stay. Because villas are rented by the week, a stay of one full week gives you time to settle in and enjoy the island without feeling hurried. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, so you may want to plan for that at the start. Share your celebration details with the St John Condos team early, and they will help you match the villa to your group.
