Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Gilman, Iowa
St John Condos is a local team that can help friends from Gilman, Iowa, plan a shared week at a villa on St. John, and they answer questions before you book.
A week away with friends is a different kind of trip. Everyone has an opinion about the schedule, the beach, and who handles the grocery run, and the place you choose has to leave room for all of it. Gilman sits in the middle of the country, where winters are cold and long, so many people here are ready for warm water and open days by the time they start looking. Villas at the Westin St John Resort give a group its own space to gather, cook, and unwind together, while the resort grounds stay close by. St. John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, reached by a short ferry ride from St. Thomas, and it suits friends who want sun and quiet at the same time. Our team is here to talk through what your group needs before anyone commits.

Getting from Gilman to St. John
- Start with the flight. Most visitors from Iowa fly into St. Thomas, the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Ask your group to check the arrival day and the ferry plans together, so everyone lands with a clear route and no one ends up waiting on the dock alone.
- Pick the right time to leave. Gilman winters can be harsh, so many groups from the Midwest aim for a stretch when the islands feel most welcoming and the trip fits into a calendar that works for everyone. Talk early about vacation days, school schedules, and what season feels right. Once the window is set, the rest of the planning tends to fall into place more easily.
- Plan the week together. A villa rented by the week gives your group a home base for shared breakfasts, quiet afternoons, and dinners you cook yourselves. Decide early who covers which tasks, how costs will be split, and how you will handle days when people want to go separate ways. Driving on St. John is on the left, so agree on who will take the wheel before you arrive.
