Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Garrett, Illinois

St John Condos helps travelers from Garrett, Illinois, plan a milestone celebration at a villa near the Westin St John Resort on St. John, and the local team answers questions before you book.

A milestone celebration deserves a setting that feels unhurried, and for many families from Garrett, that means swapping a familiar winter for warm Caribbean air. St. John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, and rental villas give your group room to gather, cook together, and linger over the evening without the feel of a hotel hallway. This page is written for travelers starting from the Midwest who want a clear, honest picture of what to expect. Illinois winters are long and gray, so a trip to a tropical island can feel like a reset as much as a party. Plan a little time for the change of pace itself. Expect the island to move at its own rhythm, with the ocean and quiet views setting the mood. A good celebration here is usually simple: a shared meal, a toast on the terrace, and time to enjoy one another.

Planning your celebration from Garrett

  1. Getting to St. John. Most travelers from Garrett fly to St. Thomas, which carries the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Build in a little slack for connections and luggage, and keep your documents handy. Once you arrive, remember that driving on St. John is on the left, which is worth a quick reminder before anyone takes the wheel.
  2. Choosing your timing. Leaving a cold Illinois winter for the islands is a popular choice for milestone trips, since the Caribbean stays warm year round. Think about your group's calendar, school breaks, and the travel plans of guests who may be coming from other parts of the country. Booking early gives you more choice of villa and dates, and it leaves room to coordinate with everyone you hope to celebrate with.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a celebration where people want to settle in rather than move every night. Think through the guest list, the number of bedrooms, and whether you want space for a private dinner or a quiet morning. Ask the St John Condos team about layout and what each villa offers before you book, so the celebration fits the people you are bringing along.
