St. John offers something a little different: a small, green island where the pace slows down and the days are shaped around each other. Many couples find that a villa gives them room to relax, cook a simple meal, and spend mornings without a schedule. Florida is a familiar starting point, and the trip to the Virgin Islands is simply a longer journey with a different kind of reward. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Planning a couples trip from Florida Gulf Coast University
- Getting to the island. Most travelers from the Florida Gulf Coast area fly into St. Thomas, which is the usual gateway for St. John. From the airport, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Plan for a little patience at the transfer points, and keep your bags light so the connections feel easy and unhurried for both of you.
- Choosing your dates. Think about the season before you commit. The islands stay warm year round, which makes them appealing when northern winters are at their coldest, but busier periods can affect availability. Talk with the St John Condos team before you book, and they can help you weigh the timing against what you want from the trip, whether that is quiet mornings or lively evenings.
- Planning your stay. Villas are rented by the week, so consider how many days you want to spend unwinding rather than moving around. Decide early whether you want to rent a car, remembering that driving on St. John is on the left. Sketch a loose plan for a few outings and leave plenty of open time, since many of the best moments as a couple come from unplanned afternoons.
