Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Florence, Illinois

St John Condos helps travelers from Florence, Illinois, plan a winter escape to St. John, where villas at the Westin St John Resort offer warm weather when the Midwest is at its coldest. Our local team answers questions before you book.

Winter in Florence can settle in hard and stay for a long while. Days turn gray, the ground freezes, and many people start looking for a change of scenery before spring arrives. St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers the opposite kind of season, with warm air, clear water, and a slower rhythm that feels like a true break from snow and ice. Staying at a villa at the Westin St John Resort gives you room to spread out, cook a few meals, and settle into the island at your own pace. Many travelers from the Midwest find that a week away is enough to reset their mood. If you are considering a winter escape, a short conversation with our team can help you decide whether this kind of trip suits you.

Your winter escape from Florence

  1. Reaching St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which is the airport code STT. From there, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little extra room for connections from Illinois, since winter travel can bring its own surprises. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so consider how comfortable you feel before you rent a car.
  2. Choosing your departure. Think about when the Florence winter feels most wearing for you, then choose a departure window that gives you a real break. Some travelers prefer to leave as soon as the first hard freeze arrives, while others wait until the holidays have passed. Let your own schedule and work commitments guide the choice, and let our team help you match the timing to a stay that fits.
  3. Planning your stay. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which suits travelers who want time to rest rather than rush. Think about how many people are traveling, what you want from your days, and whether you plan to cook at home. Share those details with us, and we will help you find a villa that fits the trip you have in mind, from quiet mornings to relaxed evenings.
