Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Fieldon, Illinois

St John Condos helps families in Fieldon, Illinois, plan a multigenerational trip to St. John, where grandparents, parents, and children can share one villa at the Westin St John Resort and still have room to spread out.

A trip for three generations asks for a different kind of planning than a couple's getaway. Grandparents may want easy mornings, parents may want a little time to themselves, and children want something to do every single day. For families leaving Fieldon, the start of that planning is usually a conversation about who needs what, and how the group will move together through a day. Villas suit that kind of group well because everyone can keep their own rhythm without losing the feeling of being together. You can cook a simple breakfast, sit on a shared porch, and then split up for an afternoon. St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, so you can talk through layouts, access, and the practical details before anyone commits.

Planning a trip to St. John from Fieldon

  1. Getting from Illinois to the islands. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay. Because the group is spread across ages, ask everyone to share their comfort with connections and long days of travel. Plan for a relaxed pace on arrival day so grandparents and young children can rest before the first outing.
  2. Choosing when to leave Illinois. Winters in Illinois are cold, so many families from the Midwest look forward to a warm escape during the coldest months. Think about school calendars, work schedules, and the energy level of your oldest and youngest travelers. A trip that fits the group's natural rhythm tends to feel calmer than one squeezed between other commitments.
  3. Planning the stay together. Agree early on shared meals, quiet time, and who handles which tasks, since a group this size needs some structure. Choose a villa rented by the week so the group has a home base rather than a string of hotel rooms. Driving on St. John is on the left, so consider whether one adult will drive or whether you will rely on other transportation.
