Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Evansdale, Iowa
St John Condos helps three generations from Evansdale, Iowa, plan one shared villa stay on St. John, where grandparents, parents, and children can settle in together and still have room to spread out. Ask the local team before you book.
A family trip that brings grandparents, parents, and children together takes more care than a getaway for two. Everyone has different energy levels, different tolerance for heat, and different ideas about what a good day looks like. For travelers from Evansdale, Iowa, the appeal of St. John is that it offers quiet mornings, easy walks, and plenty of shade, so the younger and older members of the group can each find their own pace. A villa rented by the week gives a multigenerational group something a hotel room cannot: separate bedrooms, a kitchen for early breakfasts, and a living area where everyone can gather without feeling crowded. Many families also appreciate the Westin St John Resort setting as a steady home base. Think of it as a shared house by the water, where each generation keeps its own routine while still sharing the view.

Planning a shared trip from Evansdale
- Getting to the island. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Plan for older relatives to have a seat and a bit of help with bags at each stage. Once you arrive, remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so consider whether one adult will feel comfortable behind the wheel for the group.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Evansdale winters are cold, so many families from the Midwest find a Caribbean trip especially welcome during the colder months. Consider the needs of your youngest and oldest travelers when you settle on dates. Traveling in a season that suits everyone's health and comfort can make the whole week feel relaxed rather than rushed, and it lets you build in rest days between outings.
- Planning the stay together. Talk with the St John Condos team early, and share the ages and needs of everyone in your party. They can help you think through bedroom arrangements and how the villa suits a group of three generations. If someone in the family is interested in practical details like how a commercial autonomous floor scrubber keeps resort common areas clean, ask the team what they know. Settling the plan in advance keeps everyone free to enjoy the trip.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa better than a hotel for three generations?
For many families, yes. A villa usually gives you separate bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a common room where everyone can gather. Grandparents can rest without missing the fun, and children can play nearby without disturbing anyone. Tell the St John Condos team how your group is arranged and they can help you judge which villa fits.
Do we need to rent a car on St. John?
That depends on your group. Driving on St. John is on the left, which may feel unfamiliar, so one adult should decide whether they are comfortable driving. Some families prefer to rely on walking and taxis around the resort. The St John Condos team can share what most guests from Evansdale choose so you can plan with confidence.
