Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Cedar Falls, Iowa
St John Condos can help travelers from Cedar Falls, Iowa, plan a week of snorkeling and beach days in villas at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, US Virgin Islands. Our local team answers questions before you book.
Cedar Falls sits in the heart of the Midwest, where winters bring snow and the lakes stay frozen for much of the year. For many families and friends from this part of Iowa, a week of warm water and sandy shoreline is a welcome change of pace. St. John offers that contrast in a quiet, green setting, with clear water and calm beaches that suit slow mornings and unhurried afternoons. A week built around snorkeling and beach days rewards a little planning. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which gives you room to settle in, cook a few meals, and return to the water whenever the mood strikes. Our team can talk through what a week like that looks like for your group, so you arrive knowing what to expect.

Getting from Cedar Falls to St. John
- Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors fly into the St. Thomas airport, airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From Red Hook, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan your connections from Iowa with a little extra room, since island schedules and luggage handling can take some getting used to after a long trip.
- Pick your island season. Iowa winters are cold, so many travelers from Cedar Falls choose the Virgin Islands during the colder months at home, when a warm week feels especially good. Think about when your group can get away, how much time you want on the water, and whether you prefer a busier or quieter stretch of the year. Our team can help you weigh those choices.
- Plan the snorkeling week. Settle on a rough rhythm before you go: a snorkeling morning, a lazy beach afternoon, and an easy evening at the villa. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so take that into account if you rent a car. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a sturdy bag for gear, and ask us about the villa layout so you can pack with confidence.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to plan anything special for snorkeling gear?
Many travelers from Cedar Falls prefer to bring their own mask, snorkel, and fins, since they know how the fit feels. Packing a small dry bag and reef-safe sunscreen makes beach days simpler. If you would rather not carry gear, ask our team what is practical to arrange before your trip.
Is a villa a good fit for a week of beach days?
Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which suits a relaxed schedule of swimming, reading, and time by the water. Having a kitchen and separate living space can make the days feel easier. Tell us your group size and plans, and we will help you decide whether a villa fits.
