Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Davenport, Iowa
St John Condos can help couples from Davenport, Iowa, plan a villa getaway at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, a quiet island in the US Virgin Islands. Our local team answers questions before you book, so the trip feels settled from the start.
Davenport sits on the Mississippi River in eastern Iowa, where winters are cold and the lakes and fields can stay frozen for months. For many couples there, a trip to warm water is less a luxury than a reset. A villa stay at the Westin St John Resort gives two people a place of their own to unwind, with the Caribbean close enough to feel like part of the day. The island itself is calm and green, with hillsides, quiet bays, and a pace that asks very little of you. Villas are rented by the week, which suits couples who want room to slow down rather than rush between stops. St John Condos is a local team, and we are glad to talk through what a week there might look like before you commit.

Planning a couples trip from Davenport
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Davenport fly into St. Thomas, which uses airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little extra room for the transfers so the first day feels relaxed. Once on the island, remember that driving is on the left, which may feel unfamiliar at first.
- Choosing when to leave. Iowa winters are long, so many couples from Davenport choose to leave during the colder months, when the islands offer steady warmth and clear skies. Shoulder seasons can also suit people who prefer fewer crowds. Think about what kind of week you want, then let that guide your dates. Our team can help you weigh the options against your own calendar.
- Planning the stay. Rent your villa by the week so you have time to rest, swim, read, and simply be together without a packed schedule. Decide early whether you want a rental car or prefer to rely on taxis. Keep plans loose enough that you can change your mind once you feel the island rhythm. Reach out to St John Condos with any questions before you book, and we will walk through the details with you.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a rental car on St. John as a couple?
It depends on how you like to spend your days. Some couples enjoy having a car to explore at their own pace, while others are happy with taxis and short walks. Remember that you will be driving on the left side of the road. Our team can share what they have seen work well for couples and help you decide before you arrive.
Is a villa a good choice for a romantic getaway?
Many couples find a villa more relaxing than a standard hotel room because it gives you private space, a kitchen for quiet breakfasts, and room to spread out. Villas are rented by the week, which fits a slower kind of holiday. St John Condos can explain what each property offers so you can choose one that matches your style.
