Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Bellflower, Illinois

St John Condos helps families from Bellflower, Illinois, plan a multigenerational trip to the Westin St John Resort on St. John, where villas rented by the week give grandparents, parents, and children room to share one island home.

A trip with three generations asks for more planning than a trip with one or two. Grandparents may want a slower pace and a comfortable base, parents often want a bit of structure, and children want something to do every day. Travelers from Bellflower tend to have strong ideas about how a shared vacation should feel, and that is a good place to begin. Talk through who needs what before you look at dates or villa layouts. St John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, and most visitors reach it by flying into St. Thomas, taking a taxi to Red Hook, and riding the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left, which matters if anyone in your group plans to take the wheel. A villa rented by the week at the Westin St John Resort can give each generation its own space while keeping everyone close together.

Planning a family trip from Bellflower

  1. Getting to St. John. Most families from Bellflower fly to St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry brings you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for older relatives to have a seat that suits them, and consider whether anyone needs help with bags on the ferry landing. Sharing the ride with a single taxi for the whole group keeps the transfer simple.
  2. Choosing when to leave Illinois. Winters in Illinois are cold, so many families from Bellflower look forward to a warm Caribbean escape during the coldest months. Think about school calendars, holiday commitments, and whether your grandparents prefer a quieter stretch of the year. Some groups prefer shoulder seasons when the island feels less busy. Settle on the timing that fits your youngest and oldest travelers before you commit to a week.
  3. Planning the stay together. Ask your group to share a simple list of needs, such as step-free paths, a quiet room for an afternoon nap, or an easy kitchen for family breakfasts. Let the St John Condos team know what you have in mind before you book, and they can talk through which villa suits your group. Leave some open days so everyone can rest, and agree on one or two shared outings so the trip still feels like a family trip.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa better than a hotel for three generations?

For many multigenerational groups, yes. A villa gives grandparents a quiet place to rest, gives parents a kitchen for simple meals, and gives children room to spread out. Everyone can keep their own routine while still sharing the same home base, which often makes the whole trip feel more relaxed.

Can we bring a commercial autonomous floor scrubber or similar equipment?

This question usually comes from travelers in a related line of work who want to ask about equipment, not about the vacation itself. For anything beyond personal luggage, please contact the St John Condos team directly, and they will tell you what they can confirm about your specific stay before you book.
