Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Waterville, Iowa
St John Condos can help a three-generation family from Waterville, Iowa, plan a shared villa stay at the Westin St John Resort, with local answers before you book. Driving on St. John is on the left, so plan your rides accordingly.
Gathering grandparents, parents, and children under one roof is a rare thing, and a villa on St. John can make it feel effortless. Waterville sits in the middle of the country, where the seasons are clear and winters run cold, so many families from here are simply ready for warm water and an unhurried week. A villa rented by the week gives everyone room to spread out, from quiet mornings with coffee to shared dinners that stretch into the evening. The trip itself is part of the fun for a multigenerational group. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay, which turns the arrival into a small adventure. Our team at St John Condos knows how that journey feels for older relatives and little ones alike, and we are glad to talk through the details with you before you commit to anything.

Planning a three-generation trip from Waterville
- Getting from Iowa to St. John. Most travelers from Waterville connect through a larger hub and then fly on to St. Thomas, airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry takes you over to Cruz Bay. Pack light for the ferry, keep medications in your carry-on, and let the youngest travelers help carry a bag so everyone feels part of the journey.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Iowa winters are long and gray, so many families from Waterville aim for a warm-season escape or a stretch in the depths of winter when the islands feel like a true reset. Think about school calendars, grandparents' energy levels, and how much you want to avoid crowded travel days. Talk with the group early, and let each generation weigh in on what kind of week will feel right.
- Planning the stay together. Ask for a villa with enough bedrooms and bathrooms that each branch of the family can keep some privacy. Decide ahead of time who handles meals, who wants a slow morning, and who is up for a longer outing. Share a simple shared plan, leave open days for rest, and let St John Condos help match your group size, accessibility needs, and the rhythm you want for the week.
Frequently asked questions
How do we get a grandparent with mobility needs from Waterville to a villa on St. John?
Let us know early about any walking, stair, or seating needs so we can point you to a villa that suits your group. Plan for a taxi from the airport to Red Hook and the ferry to Cruz Bay, and arrange extra help for boarding. Our team can talk through the practical steps before you book.
Is a villa better than a hotel room for a three-generation trip from Iowa?
For most families from Waterville, a villa offers more space, a full kitchen for shared meals, and separate areas where different generations can rest. Rooms can feel tight when everyone is together for a week. A villa lets each person keep their own routine while still gathering for dinner.
