Getting from Anderson to St. John

  1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Iowa fly into the airport on St. Thomas, which carries the code STT. From there you take a taxi to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry leaves for Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep your bags light and your documents within reach, since the stretch between the airport and the ferry is the part that most often surprises first-time travelers.
  2. Pick the season carefully. Iowa travelers often prefer to leave during the coldest months at home, when the islands are most inviting. Think about what kind of weather you want, how busy you hope the island will feel, and whether school or work calendars shape your options. Our team can talk through the trade-offs honestly so the timing matches the trip you picture.
  3. Plan the stay around you. Once your dates are set, decide how you want to spend your days, whether that means slow mornings on a lanai, time on the beach, or exploring the trails. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so consider whether you want a rental car or prefer to rely on taxis. Ask us about the villa layout, the bedroom count, and the details that will make your splurge feel complete.
