A milestone is worth marking somewhere that feels different from everyday life. For many people in Andrew, Iowa, that means leaving the flat farmland and quiet streets behind for a few days on a Caribbean island. St. John offers warm water, green hillsides, and a slower rhythm that suits a reunion of loved ones or a private toast between two people. Planning a trip this far from home can feel like a lot to manage at once. The Westin St John Resort sits within reach of villas that are rented by the week, which gives your group room to gather, cook a meal together, and step outside whenever you like. Our team is glad to talk through the details so the celebration is the focus, not the logistics.

Getting from Andrew to St. John

  1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors coming from Andrew fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry departs for Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan this last stretch with your group, since the ferry is the quickest way across and everyone will want to arrive together before the celebration begins.
  2. Pick your departure season. Iowa winters are cold and snowy, so many families from Andrew choose to leave during the colder months at home and enjoy the island's steady warmth. Think about your milestone date, the weather you prefer, and whether guests can travel comfortably. Our team can help you line up a week that fits your calendar and your celebration.
  3. Plan the stay with care. A villa gives your group space that a standard hotel room cannot. Decide early who is coming, how many bedrooms you need, and whether you want a rental car, remembering that driving on St. John is on the left. Ask us about the villa layout and what the week includes before you book, so the milestone itself can take center stage.
