Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Sully, Iowa
St John Condos helps travelers from Sully, Iowa, plan a first Caribbean trip to a villa at the Westin St John Resort, answering questions before you book. Our local team is glad to talk through the details with you.
Sully sits in the middle of Iowa, a long way from warm water and sandy beaches, so a first trip to the Caribbean can feel like a big step. Many people from this part of the country have never seen a tropical island, and it is natural to wonder how the trip will feel from start to finish. Plenty of visitors come to St. John with that same mix of excitement and uncertainty. The good news is that a Caribbean trip is easier to plan than it might seem. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, take a taxi to Red Hook, and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay, where the island begins. Driving on St. John happens on the left, which is worth remembering before you rent a car. Our team can walk you through each piece so the trip feels familiar before you ever leave home.

Your first island trip from Sully
- Getting to St. John. Start by looking at how you will reach St. Thomas, the airport most visitors use. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, and the passenger ferry brings you across to Cruz Bay. Keep your bags light and your plans simple, and expect a relaxed pace at each stop. If you have questions about the connections, ask our team before you book so nothing catches you off guard.
- Choosing when to go. Iowa winters are cold, so many travelers from Sully find that a warm island feels especially welcome during the colder months. Think about your work schedule, school calendars, and how much time you can set aside. Some people prefer a quieter stretch of the year, while others enjoy the energy of a busier season. Pick the timing that fits your life, and let the island be the reward at the end of it.
- Planning your stay. A villa at the Westin St John Resort gives you room to unwind, and villas are rented by the week, which suits a first visit well. Decide how you want your days to feel, whether that means slow mornings, time on the water, or simply sitting outside with a book. Write your must-haves down, then share them with our team. We will help you match the villa and plan the rest around what matters most to you.
