Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Colfax, Iowa
St John Condos helps friends from Colfax, Iowa, plan a shared week at a villa on St. John, and the local team will answer questions before you book.
A week away with friends from Colfax usually means a good deal of planning across a group, and that is where a small local team can help. Iowa sits in the heart of the country, so most of you will travel a long way before the Caribbean water comes into view. Thinking early about who handles which details keeps the trip relaxed once everyone arrives. A villa rented by the week gives a group room to spread out, cook together, and keep a shared rhythm without hotel corridors. The Westin St John Resort sets the scene, and the island rewards slower mornings and easy evenings. Talk through sleeping arrangements, shared costs, and driving plans before anyone packs, and the week will feel more like a holiday.

Getting from Colfax to St. John
- Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which carries the airport code STT, and that is the usual starting point for groups coming from the middle of the country. Plan for everyone to arrive on flights that land in a similar window so the group can share a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John.
- Pick your departure season. Colfax winters are cold, so many friends from Iowa find the Caribbean especially welcome in the colder months. Warm, dry stretches of the year suit outdoor time, while the rainier months bring a softer feel to the island. Settle on the season with the whole group before booking, since agreeing on dates early makes it easier to match flights and villa availability.
- Plan the stay together. Once dates are set, decide how the week will run: shared meals, a rental car or taxis, and a plan for days when everyone wants something different. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so anyone behind the wheel should settle in gently before heading out. Ask the St John Condos team any questions about the villa before you book, so the whole group knows what to expect.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good choice for a group of friends from Colfax?
A villa gives a group of friends shared space, a kitchen for easy breakfasts, and room to gather without feeling crowded. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a longer trip with people who want to slow down together. Ask the local team how many guests the villa comfortably holds before you commit.
How do we get to the villa once we reach the islands?
Most groups fly to St. Thomas, then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan one transfer for the whole group where you can, and confirm pickup details with the St John Condos team ahead of your arrival date.
