Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Pinecrest, Florida
St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and for Pinecrest families planning a trip for three generations, that means you can talk through villa space, pace, and logistics with real people before you commit. Our villas sit at the Westin St John Resort on St. John.
Planning a trip that brings grandparents, parents, and children together takes more thought than most vacations. Pinecrest families often start with the same questions: how far the islands feel from home, how to keep a range of ages comfortable, and how much rest everyone will need. A week in a villa gives everyone room to spread out while still gathering at one table each morning. Florida residents already know warm weather, so the appeal of St. John is less about the heat and more about the slower rhythm of island life. Villas let grandparents keep their own routines, parents have a quiet corner, and children run between rooms without anyone feeling crowded. This page walks through getting there, picking the right season, and shaping a stay that suits everyone in the group.

How Pinecrest families can plan a shared island stay
- Reaching St. John from Florida. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, the airport code being STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook, where a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan this leg around the slowest traveler in the group. Ask about bags, seating, and any mobility needs well before departure so the transfer feels easy for grandparents and small children alike.
- Choosing the right time to go. Florida families can compare the island's seasons with the ones they already know. Many groups prefer the drier months when outdoor plans are easier to keep, while others enjoy the quieter stretches when the resort feels calmer. Think about school calendars, family birthdays, and whether anyone in the group needs a predictable schedule, then talk through the options with our team.
- Planning the stay together. Villas are rented by the week, which suits multigenerational groups who want time to settle in rather than rush between stops. Decide early who needs a bedroom near a bathroom, which days will be quiet, and where shared meals will happen. Driving on St. John is on the left, so consider whether one adult will handle the rental car or whether the group will rely on the resort and walking.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa really better than a hotel for three generations?
For many Pinecrest families it is. A villa gives grandparents a private bedroom and bath, parents a space to unwind after the day, and children room to play without disturbing anyone. Shared kitchen and living areas make it easy to eat together or separately, depending on what each person needs that day.
Can our team talk through the details before we book?
Yes. St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, so you can ask about bedroom layouts, accessibility, ferry logistics, or how to arrange a group that spans several ages. Tell us who is traveling and what matters most, and we will help you sort out the plan.
