Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Oak Hills, Iowa
St John Condos helps families in Oak Hills, Iowa, plan a villa stay at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, US Virgin Islands. The team answers questions before you book, so you can plan a trip for the whole family with confidence.
Oak Hills sits in the heart of Iowa, where winters are cold and snow often covers the fields for weeks. A family vacation to a warm Caribbean island can feel like a real change of season, and that contrast is a big part of the appeal. The Westin St John Resort offers villas rented by the week, which gives a family room to spread out, cook a few meals, and settle into a slower rhythm. Planning a trip with children and grandparents takes more thought than planning a trip for two. You will want to know how the days will flow, what kind of space everyone will have, and how to keep the schedule relaxed. St John Condos is a local team that answers these questions in plain terms before you commit. We can talk through what a family week on St. John usually looks like, so you arrive knowing what to expect.

Planning a family trip from Oak Hills
- Getting to the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for a few transfers with luggage and tired children, and keep carry-on bags handy for the ferry. If you rent a car on the island, remember that driving on St. John is on the left, which may feel unfamiliar at first.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Oak Hills families often choose to leave during the coldest stretch of winter or in the quieter weeks of spring. Think about school calendars, work schedules, and the weather you want to escape. The islands stay warm year round at the level of common knowledge, so the decision comes down to what suits your household best and how much time you can set aside.
- Planning the stay. Because villas are rented by the week, a family can build a stay around beach time, quiet mornings, and shared meals at home. List the activities that matter most to your children and older relatives, then leave open space for rest. Ask St John Condos about the layout and what each villa offers so you can match the space to your group before you book.
