Planning your splurge from New Berlin
- Getting from New Berlin. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which is the usual airport for the islands. From there you take a taxi to Red Hook and then the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay. Plan your connections with care, leave some slack in the schedule, and keep your travel documents close. Our team can walk you through the full route so nothing surprises you on the day you travel.
- Choosing your season. Winters in northern Illinois are cold and gray, so many New Berlin travelers prefer to leave during the coldest months when the islands feel most like an escape. Consider what you want from the trip, whether that is calm mornings, long lunches, or time on the water. Think about your own calendar and your work commitments, then choose a window that fits both your budget of time and your expectations for the weather.
- Planning the stay. A villa rented by the week gives you room to slow down, cook a few meals, and settle into island life rather than rushing between sights. Decide early how many people are coming, what you want from each day, and how much you want to spend on the extras that make the trip memorable. Driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, so think about that before you arrive. Share your plans with our team and we will help you match the right villa to them.
