A milestone is worth marking somewhere that feels different from an ordinary weekend. For many people in Mount Auburn, Iowa, that means leaving behind the flat horizons and cold months of the Midwest for a warm island where the pace slows down. St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort, and we know that a celebration works best when the surroundings feel open, quiet, and easy to enjoy together. Choosing a villa rather than a hotel room can make a big difference when the group is gathering for an anniversary, a retirement, or a landmark birthday. You get room to spread out, a place to share a meal, and time together that is not dictated by someone else's schedule. Our team can talk through what your group needs before you commit, so the celebration you picture is the one you actually get.

Getting from Mount Auburn to St. John

  1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Iowa travel to St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then make their way to St. John from there. Plan on a short taxi ride to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry departs for Cruz Bay on the island. Carrying only what you need for the crossing keeps things simple, especially if the group includes older relatives or anyone celebrating with a sore back or tired legs after a long day of travel.
  2. Pick the right time to go. Iowa winters are cold, so many people from Mount Auburn choose to leave for the islands during the coldest months and enjoy the warm air as a reward. Think about when the milestone falls, how much time you can take away from work and family, and whether you would rather celebrate in a quieter season. Our team can help you line up dates that suit your group before you book.
  3. Plan the stay around the day. Once you have a villa booked, think about how the celebration itself will unfold. Decide whether the group wants a relaxed afternoon by the water, a shared dinner at the villa, or a few planned moments for toasts and photos. Keep in mind that the island drives on the left, so anyone renting a car should take that into account. Ask us anything about the villa layout or the rental terms, and we will answer plainly.
