A milestone is worth marking somewhere that feels different from an ordinary weekend, and for many people in Moscow, Iowa, that means crossing a long stretch of water to reach the Virgin Islands. Iowa is a landlocked state in the middle of the country, so the ocean, warm air, and slower pace of St. John can feel like a true change of scene. A villa rented by the week gives your group room to gather, cook a meal together, and talk without rushing from one event to the next. Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, a retirement, or a big birthday, the planning begins long before the trip itself. St John Condos is a local team that rents villas at the Westin St John Resort, and we are glad to talk through the details with you before you commit. Think of us as a practical sounding board for dates, group size, and what kind of setting suits the occasion. Our goal is simply to help you arrive ready to enjoy the celebration.

Planning a milestone trip from Moscow
- Reaching St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan your connections with some margin, since a celebration is easier to enjoy when you are not watching the clock. Once you land on St. John, remember that driving is on the left side of the road, so take that into account if you plan to rent a car.
- Choosing when to travel. Iowa winters are cold, so many families from Moscow find the islands especially appealing during the colder months back home. The Caribbean stays warm year round, which means you can pick a date that fits your milestone rather than the weather. Consider whether you want a quieter stretch of the year or a time that lines up with school calendars and family schedules. Share your preferred dates with our team and we will help you think through the options.
- Planning the stay. A villa suits a milestone celebration because everyone can share one space, whether for a morning coffee, a dinner, or a quiet evening after the day's events. Decide early how many guests will join, how many bedrooms you will need, and whether you want to plan a few group activities or leave most days open. Villas are rented by the week, so a stay of that length gives you time to settle in. Let us know your plans, and we will help you choose a villa that fits.
