Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Mona, Iowa

St John Condos is a local team that can help travelers from Mona, Iowa, plan a week away with friends at a villa on St. John. Ask us anything before you book, and we will walk you through the details.

A week away with friends from Mona usually starts with a long stretch of planning, and that is where we can be useful. Iowa sits in the middle of the country, far from the ocean, so most of the group will be shifting from cool inland weather to warm, humid days on a small Caribbean island. Plan for that change, pack light layers for evenings, and expect the pace to slow once you arrive. The Westin St John Resort offers villas that suit a group better than a single hotel room, with space to spread out, cook a few meals, and gather together after a day in the water. Villas are rented by the week, which fits a shared trip well. Talk through sleeping arrangements, shared costs, and who handles bookings before you commit, so everyone arrives with the same expectations.

Getting from Mona to St. John

  1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Mona fly into St. Thomas, which has airport code STT. Coordinate arrival times so your group lands close together if you can. From the airport, take a taxi to Red Hook, then board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep bags manageable, since you will be carrying them onto the boat and along the dock. Confirm the ferry details before you travel, because schedules can change.
  2. Choose your departure window. Think about when your group can realistically leave Iowa for the islands. Winter months in Iowa are cold, so many friends from Mona are glad to escape then, but peak season can bring fuller flights and busier resort days. Shoulder periods can offer a balance of mild weather and easier planning. Ask our team what the island is like during the month you have in mind, and let that guide how early you book.
  3. Plan the week together. Once dates are set, sketch a loose plan for the week. Decide who drives, since driving on St. John is on the left, which may feel unfamiliar to some in your group. Agree on shared meals, beach days, and quiet afternoons so no one feels rushed. Book the villa early enough to secure the layout you want, and share one written itinerary with everyone so the trip feels relaxed rather than improvised.
