Getting from McClelland to St. John

  1. Reaching the islands. Most visitors from McClelland fly to St. Thomas, whose airport code is STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little buffer on your travel day so the celebration starts on a relaxed note rather than in a rush at the dock.
  2. Choosing your departure. Iowa winters are cold, so many families from McClelland prefer to leave during the colder months and enjoy warm sun on the island. Think about the date of your milestone, school and work calendars, and the weather you would like to find. Share those details with our team and we can help you choose a stretch of days that suits your group.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which gives your group room to breathe. Decide early who is coming, how you want to spend the mornings, and whether you want a quiet dinner or a longer shared meal. If you will be driving on the island, remember that traffic keeps to the left, as it does in the Virgin Islands.
