Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Marathon, Iowa

St John Condos helps families in Marathon, Iowa, plan a trip where grandparents, parents, and children share one villa on St. John. The team answers questions before you book, so every generation knows what to expect.

A trip for three generations asks a lot of any plan. Grandparents may want slower mornings, parents want time to rest, and children want to be in the water. In Marathon, a family like yours may be sorting out who is traveling and when, long before anyone thinks about bags. A villa rented by the week at the Westin St John Resort gives everyone their own rhythm while keeping you together for meals and conversation. Iowa winters are cold, so many families from the state look to the Caribbean in the colder months, when the islands feel especially inviting. Warm air and blue water make a good backdrop for photos and slow afternoons. Since St. John is an island with a small footprint, you can settle in and stay close without rushing from place to place. The St John Condos team can talk through which season suits your group best.

Planning a Trip from Marathon

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for a few connections, and consider where grandparents will sit and how much luggage each person brings. Driving on the island is on the left, so arrange transportation before you arrive.
  2. Choosing when to leave. Think about school calendars, holidays, and the health needs of your oldest travelers before you pick dates. The islands stay warm through much of the year, so the choice often comes down to cost, crowds, and family schedules. Talk with your group early, then share your preferred weeks with the St John Condos team so they can help you compare options.
  3. Planning the stay. Since villas are rented by the week, decide how many rooms you need and whether anyone wants a quieter space away from the main gathering area. Make a shared list of must-do activities and rest breaks, and leave open time for spontaneous moments. A simple plan for meals and outings keeps three generations comfortable and connected throughout the week.
