Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Little Cedar, Iowa
St John Condos helps travelers from Little Cedar, Iowa, plan a first trip to the Caribbean, from getting to the island to choosing a villa at the Westin St John Resort. Ask us anything before you book.
A first trip to the Caribbean can feel like a large step when you live in the middle of the country, far from any ocean. Little Cedar sits in the Midwest, where winters are cold and long, so the idea of warm water and steady sunshine often feels like the reason to go at all. That mix of excitement and uncertainty is completely normal, and it is the reason our team is here to answer questions before any plans are made. Many first-time visitors wonder whether the islands will feel too unfamiliar, or whether a villa stay will be easier to manage than a hotel room. Here at St John Condos, we rent villas by the week at the Westin St John Resort, and we know how much a little clear information can ease the nerves. We want you to arrive with a plan you understand, so the trip feels like a rest rather than a puzzle.

A first Caribbean trip from Little Cedar
- Reaching the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Travelers from Little Cedar often find this route simpler than they expected, and the team can walk you through each leg so nothing catches you off guard on arrival day.
- Choosing when to go. Iowa winters are cold, so many people from the Midwest choose to head south during the colder months at home. The islands stay warm year round in the general sense, though rainy spells happen at times. Think about which season suits your schedule and comfort, and ask us which weeks feel most relaxed for a first visit.
- Planning your stay. A villa gives you room to unwind, a kitchen for simple breakfasts, and space to spread out after a day of exploring. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, which takes some getting used to. Share your travel style with us, and we will help you choose a villa that fits how you like to spend your days.
