Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Linden, Iowa
St John Condos can help a family from Linden, Iowa, plan a shared trip to St. John, where grandparents, parents, and children can settle into one villa at the Westin St John Resort together. Ask the local team before you book.
A trip with three generations takes more planning than a simple getaway, and that is where a little local knowledge helps. Linden sits in the middle of Iowa, so most of your group will be used to flat farmland, big skies, and cold winters. St. John offers something different: warm air, clear water, and a pace that suits both young children and grandparents who want a quiet morning. Thinking early about bedrooms, mobility, and daily rhythms makes the difference between a trip everyone remembers fondly and one that wears people out. Many visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay. Driving on St. John is on the left, so younger drivers in the group may want to take the wheel while everyone else relaxes. Villas are rented by the week, which gives families room to spread out, cook meals together, and keep a schedule that works for every age.

Planning a family trip from Linden
- Getting from the area. Start by looking at how your group will move from Linden to the airport in Iowa, then onward to St. Thomas. Plan for the taxi to Red Hook and the ferry to Cruz Bay as one connected stretch. Ask whether anyone in the group needs extra help with bags, seating, or stairs. Sharing these details with the St John Condos team early lets them point you toward villa layouts that are easy to reach.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Think about the season before you commit. Iowa winters are cold, so many families from Linden enjoy heading to the islands during the colder months at home. Consider school calendars, holidays, and the health needs of your oldest and youngest travelers. Warm weather is steady on St. John, so the real decision is about your group's comfort and schedule rather than the forecast.
- Planning the stay. Once dates are set, sketch a loose plan rather than a packed one. Decide which days are for shared outings and which are for resting at the villa. Pack a few comfortable items for each generation and bring a simple list of medications and contacts. Talk with St John Condos before booking to compare villa options, and mention any interest in a commercial autonomous floor scrubber type of cleaning or maintenance standards so the rental matches what your family expects.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa better than a hotel room for three generations?
For most multigenerational groups, a villa gives everyone their own space while keeping the family together. Separate bedrooms, a kitchen for quiet breakfasts, and a living area for evenings can ease tension. The St John Condos team can explain which layouts suit grandparents, parents, and children best.
Do we need to rent a car on St. John?
Many families prefer to plan their own transportation, since roads on the island wind and driving is on the left. Talk with the local team about what getting around looks like from your villa so you can decide what suits your group.
