Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Harcourt, Iowa
St John Condos helps travelers from Harcourt, Iowa, plan a week away with friends at a villa at the Westin St John Resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, with a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
A week away with friends from Harcourt is a different kind of trip than a quiet getaway. Everyone has opinions about how the days should go, and the best plans leave room for both shared mornings and separate afternoons. A villa at the Westin St John Resort gives your group a home base with space to spread out, cook together, and sit on the terrace after a long day in the sun. Coming from the middle of the country, many people find the change in scenery is the real reward. Iowa winters are cold and gray, and a week on a Caribbean island feels like a clean reset. St John is small and green, with calm water and a relaxed pace. Planning ahead with the St John Condos team helps your group arrive ready to enjoy it instead of worrying about details.

Planning a Week Away from Harcourt
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan your group's arrival together, since several people can share one taxi and the ferry is easy once you know the routine. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, so think about who in your group will handle the rental car.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Pick your travel dates with your group's schedules in mind, and watch for the stretch of weather that suits everyone best. Winter months in Iowa can be harsh, so many friends from Harcourt aim for a departure that gets them out of the cold. Let everyone confirm their time off early, and keep a shared calendar so no one is left out of the decision.
- Planning the stay together. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a group that wants a full seven days together. Divide the shared costs and chores fairly, decide on a rough plan for meals, and leave some open days for napping or wandering. A good planning habit is to talk through the week before you go, so the trip feels like something you built together rather than something imposed by one person.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to rent a car on St. John?
Many people find a rental car useful for getting around the island, but it is worth weighing against your group's plans. Remember that you will drive on the left. Ask the St John Condos team about your villa and what transportation options work best for a group staying a full week.
Is a villa a good choice for a group of friends?
A villa gives your group more shared space and privacy than separate rooms, which many groups appreciate for a full week. Cooking, lounging, and gathering together are easier in a home base. Reach out to St John Condos before booking, and the team will answer your questions about fitting your group comfortably.
