Planning a week away from Dundee
- Reaching the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Groups traveling from Dundee often coordinate arrivals so everyone can share a taxi and ride the same ferry together. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left, so many friends choose to share a rental vehicle with a designated driver.
- Choosing when to go. Iowa winters are cold, which is a common reason travelers from the Midwest look toward the islands during the coolest months of the year. Shoulder seasons can also suit a group that wants a quieter week. Talk through everyone's work and school commitments before you settle on dates. St John Condos can share what they know about the island through the year so your group can pick a week that suits everyone.
- Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a group that wants one shared home for the whole trip. Decide early who is covering what, whether that is groceries, rental car, or activities. A common space where everyone can gather makes a villa stay feel easy. Share your group's must-dos and quiet-time wishes with the St John Condos team, and they can help you match your group to the right villa before you book.
