Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Doon, Iowa
St John Condos helps couples from Doon, Iowa, plan a quiet villa getaway at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, where the days can move at an easy pace. Ask the local team anything before you book.
Doon sits in the middle of Iowa, a long way from any ocean, and that distance can make a Caribbean trip feel like a big step for two people who mostly plan their time around each other. Many couples from this part of the Midwest find that a villa stay gives them room to slow down, cook breakfast together, and spend an unhurried afternoon on the water without the feeling of rushing from one attraction to the next. Winters in Iowa are cold, so the warm, steady air of the islands often feels like the reward a couple has been waiting for. St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort, and our local team is glad to talk through what a week there could look like for two people who want rest, good conversation, and a shared sense of adventure before they commit to anything.

Planning a couples trip from Doon
- Getting to the islands. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack into your travel day so that a missed connection from a Midwest hub does not turn into a stressful evening for the two of you.
- Choosing your season. Iowa winters are long and gray, so many couples from Doon look for a window in the cooler months when the islands are at their most comfortable. Think about what you want from the trip, whether that means quiet mornings, time for long walks, or simply a break from snow. Our team can share what they have seen from guests in the past and help you weigh the options.
- Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits couples who want space to unwind rather than a packed itinerary. Decide early how much you want to plan and how much you want to leave open. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, so think about whether you want to rent a car or rely on rides for your outings together.
