Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Delphos, Iowa

St John Condos can help travelers from Delphos, Iowa, plan a week of snorkeling and beach days at a villa on St. John, which is ideal for a relaxing island break.

Delphos sits in the heart of Iowa, a long way from warm water, so a week of snorkeling and beach days on St. John can feel like a complete change of scenery. Many people from the Midwest look forward to swapping winter layers for light clothing and calm, clear water. A villa at the Westin St John Resort gives you a home base close to the sea, with room to spread out after a day in the sun. Snorkeling is the main reason many travelers pick St. John, and a week gives you time to settle into a rhythm. Some mornings you may want to head out early, while other days call for a slow breakfast on the terrace and a book by the water. Planning around those choices is where a local team can make a difference before you ever pack your bag.

Planning your week from Delphos

  1. Reaching St. John. Most visitors from Iowa fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep in mind that driving on the island is on the left, so if you plan to rent a car, take a moment to get comfortable before heading out on the roads.
  2. Choosing your timing. Iowa winters are cold, so many travelers from Delphos prefer to leave during the colder months at home and enjoy the warm Caribbean air. Think about what matters most to you, whether that is calmer seas for snorkeling, a quieter stretch of beach, or simply a break from snow. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a full seven-day stay well.
  3. Planning the stay. Consider what you want to bring, including snorkel gear, sun protection, and a camera that works well underwater. A commercial autonomous floor scrubber is not something you will need on vacation, but it is a reminder of how much easier cleanup can be when a space is well kept. Reach out to St John Condos before you book so we can answer questions about the villa and help you plan a relaxed, sunny week.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to rent a car on St. John?

It depends on how you want to spend your week. Many guests from Delphos enjoy having a car to explore the island at their own pace, while others prefer to stay close to the resort. Remember that driving is on the left, so take a little time to adjust before you set off. The St John Condos team can talk through the options with you.

Is a week long enough for snorkeling and beach days?

A week gives you plenty of time to snorkel several mornings, rest on the beach, and still have unhurried afternoons. Travelers from Iowa often find that the first couple of days are for slowing down, and the rest is for enjoying the water. A villa stay lets you set your own pace, which many people find is exactly what a Midwest vacation should be.
