Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Colwell, Iowa
St John Condos is a local team that helps friends from Colwell, Iowa, plan a week together at a villa on St. John, and they answer questions before you book.
A week away with friends from Colwell, Iowa, usually begins with a long stretch of winter behind you and a shared wish for warm water and easy days. Gathering a group for a villa on St. John lets everyone keep their own pace, with separate bedrooms, a common kitchen, and room to spread out after a busy morning. Because the island sits in the Caribbean, most of your group will fly to St. Thomas and then travel the short distance to Red Hook by taxi before boarding the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Planning that trip together, and sharing one clear itinerary, keeps the arrival smooth for everyone, even when flights come from different parts of the country.

Planning your week from Colwell
- Getting to St. John. Most travelers from Colwell reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, airport code STT, and then taking a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay. Ask your group to share flight details early, so the taxi and ferry plans line up for everyone. Remember that driving on the island is on the left, so renting a car is worth discussing with your friends ahead of time.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Iowa winters are cold, so many groups from Colwell look toward the cooler months at home as the moment to head for warmer water. Think about school calendars, work obligations, and each friend's availability before fixing a date. Settling on a window of travel dates together, rather than one exact day, gives everyone more room to adjust and makes it easier to find a villa that fits the whole group.
- Planning the stay together. Once dates are set, decide how your group will share costs, meals, and the daily schedule. Some friends will want slow mornings, while others may prefer early starts for the beach. A short written plan covering shared meals, transportation, and quiet time helps everyone relax. Our team can answer questions about villa layouts and arrangements before you book, so your group can focus on enjoying the week.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to rent a car on St. John?
Many groups find a car useful for getting around the island, but it is worth weighing with your friends. Driving is on the left, which takes some getting used to. How should a group from Colwell plan the trip without confusion?
