Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Burlington, Illinois

St John Condos helps travelers from Burlington, Illinois, plan a first Caribbean trip to a villa at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, with straightforward answers before you book.

A first trip to the Caribbean can feel like a lot to organize when you are coming from a flat, inland place like Burlington. The water is a different color, the air is warm even when the calendar says it should not be, and the pace of island life takes a little getting used to. Most of that is part of the appeal, but it helps to know what to expect before you pack. St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort, and our local team is glad to talk through the details that matter most to first-time visitors. We can explain how a week in a villa is structured, what the grounds are like, and how the island tends to feel day to day. Ask us anything before you commit, and we will answer plainly.

Planning your first island trip from Burlington

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. It is a simple sequence once you have done it, but the first time it helps to have every connection written down. Driving on St. John is on the left, so if you plan to rent a car, take a moment to get comfortable with that before heading out on the roads.
  2. Choosing when to go. Burlington winters are cold, so many travelers from Illinois find that the islands feel most welcome in the cooler months of the year, when the northern weather is at its harshest. The Caribbean stays warm across most of the calendar, so the decision often comes down to your budget, your schedule, and how much rain you are willing to accept. Think about what you want the trip to feel like, then choose the season that fits.
  3. Planning your stay. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which gives a first-time visitor room to settle in rather than rushing from one sight to the next. Decide early what you want from the stay, whether that is slow mornings by the water, a bit of exploring, or simply rest after a long winter in Illinois. Bring questions to the St John Condos team, and we will help you match the villa and the week to the trip you have in mind.
