Planning your milestone from Burchinal

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, the STT airport, and then taking a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack into the day, especially if your group is arriving together with luggage and celebration supplies in tow, and keep in mind that driving on the island is on the left.
  2. Choosing when to leave Iowa. Iowa winters are cold and gray, so many people from Burchinal find that a trip to the Caribbean feels especially welcome in the colder months. Warm weather on St. John is a common draw year round, though the season you pick shapes the feel of your days. Think about what matters most for your celebration, whether that is calm mornings, a lively mood, or simply a break from the snow.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a milestone where you want time to relax rather than rush between sights. Decide early who is coming, how many bedrooms you need, and what meals you want to cook versus enjoy out. Sharing your plans with the St John Condos team before booking lets them help you match the villa to your group and the occasion.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa a good fit for a group celebrating a milestone?

Often it is. A villa gives your group shared space for meals, conversation, and photos, and it avoids the feeling of a crowded hotel corridor. Tell the St John Condos team how many people are coming and what kind of celebration you have in mind so they can point you toward a villa that suits your group well.

Do I need to plan a trip from Iowa well ahead of time?

Planning early usually helps, especially if you have a fixed date for your milestone and a group to coordinate. Getting your travel dates, flights into St. Thomas, and villa rental settled in good order gives everyone more choice. The St John Condos team can answer questions about availability and what to expect before you commit.
