Getting from Bedford to St. John
- Reaching the island. Most visitors from Iowa fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for a bit of extra time for bags and car seats, and keep your small items in a carry-on so the family has what they need during the trip.
- Choosing when to go. Iowa winters are cold, so many families from Bedford are glad to head south when the snow is still on the ground back home. The islands stay warm year round, which gives you flexibility. Think about school breaks, the energy level of your children, and whether you want a quieter stretch or a busier one, then pick the week that suits your household.
- Planning the stay. Villas at the resort are rented by the week, which suits families who want a slower pace and room to relax together. Ask us about the layout, bedrooms, and any needs your group has. If you plan to drive, remember that traffic on St. John moves on the left, so take a moment to get comfortable before heading out.
