Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Beardstown, Illinois

St John Condos helps couples from Beardstown, Illinois, plan a quiet island getaway at villas near the Westin St John Resort on St. John, US Virgin Islands. Ask the local team anything before you book.

Beardstown sits on the Illinois River in the middle of the state, where winters are cold and grey for much of the year. For a couple, that contrast can make a warm Caribbean escape feel especially welcome. A villa rented by the week gives you room to slow down together, with your own space instead of a crowded hotel corridor. Many couples from central Illinois find that the trip itself becomes part of the appeal. Your route usually runs through St. Thomas, where you take a taxi to Red Hook and board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Planning that sequence early lets you spend your attention on each other rather than on logistics.

Planning a couples trip from Beardstown

  1. Getting from the area. Most travelers from Beardstown reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, and the passenger ferry completes the crossing to Cruz Bay. Because the island drives on the left, you may prefer to arrange a ride or rely on taxis during your first days. The St John Condos team can walk you through each leg before you commit.
  2. Choosing when to leave Illinois. Think about the season you are leaving behind. A Beardstown winter may make a late winter or early spring escape feel like a real change of scenery, while a summer trip offers a different kind of warmth. Consider your own calendar, your work schedule, and the weather you hope to enjoy together. Talk through the timing with the local team before choosing your dates.
  3. Planning the stay. Rent a villa for the full week so you have time to rest, explore at your own pace, and return to a space that feels like yours. Decide early which days you want for quiet mornings, which for the beach, and which for a leisurely dinner. Think, too, about how you want to unwind together, and let the St John Condos team help you match the villa to your plans.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a car on St. John as a couple?

Many couples find a rental car useful for getting around the island, though remember that driving is on the left. Some prefer taxis for certain outings and enjoy not driving at all. Think about what your days will look like, then ask the St John Condos team which option suits your plans.

Is a villa better than a hotel room for two people?

A villa gives you separate living space, a kitchen for quiet breakfasts, and room to spread out after a long day. Couples who want privacy often prefer that setting. The local team can tell you more about what to expect before you book.
