Planning a week away from Bartlett

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors from the Midwest fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, then take a taxi to Red Hook and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for the ferry and taxi together so the group arrives with bags, not stress. Driving on St. John is on the left, so if anyone plans to rent a vehicle, it helps to talk that through in advance.
  2. Choosing when to go. Think about when your friends from Bartlett can all take time away from work and family. Iowa winters are long and cold, so many groups plan a trip during the coldest months at home. Share calendars early, since a shared week is much easier to book when everyone agrees on dates from the start.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a group that wants shared space and a steady routine. Decide early who will handle bookings, meal planning, and the shared budget, and set aside a little time for everyone to rest. A clear plan for the first and last days keeps the week feeling relaxed rather than rushed.

Do we need to rent a car on St. John?
